Wine Review July 27, 2013 – Union Squared White 2012 – Malivoire Cabernet Franc 2011

2012 Union Squared White – Vintages 346775 – $17.95 – I am a big fan of the regular list Union wines.  They are great value, easy drinking, very food friendly, and drink beyond their price point.  This wine is a blend of Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.  It has great aromas of Lemon and Peach and nice sharp crisp acidity.  The acidity makes this easy to pair with grilled seafood or as a great patio sipper.  You will probably find yourself reaching for the glass before the first sip is gone.

2011 Malivoire Cabernet Franc – Vintages 310383 – $24.95 – This is an excellent Cabernet Franc from a vintage that certainly isn’t getting the attention that 2010 or 2012 have.  You get a wine with an interesting flavours of Raspberry, Plum, Currant with subtle Cocoa on the finish and a nice bit of Black Pepper as well.  This is your Steak wine or something to enjoy on a rainy day.
