Wine Review April 19 – 2012 Lailey Chardonnay – 2012 Chateau des Charmes Cabernet Sauvignon

2012 Lailey Chardonnay – Vintages 193482 – $19.95 – Beautifully subtle and fantastically priced.  Flavours of apple, peach with vanilla on a finish that lingers a little bit.  This is something I would serve to people who are fussy about overoaked Chardonnay.  This has great balance between bright fruit and more robust flavours picked up by the barrel.  This is a great wine to go with all sorts of chicken whether barbecued or roasted.

2012 Chateau des Charmes Cabernet Sauvignon – LCBO 370320 – $14.95 – There is lots of fruit in this bottle flavours of Black Currant, Dark Plum and Blackberry dominate with subtle Dark Chocolate and Black Pepper on the finish.  This is fantastic value and something you should keep around the house for barbeque this summer whether you’re serving a great striploin or grilling up some burgers.  Don’t let the price fool you, even though this is a regular list wine in the LCBO it is worth picking up a few bottles to let it age over the next few years.
