One of the highlights from Cuvée 2014 was getting a chance to be introduced to Westcott Vineyards. They were pouring a fantastic Chardonnay and the winery has not even opened their doors yet. Westcott currently have a few wines available at https://westcottvineyards.com/ and they will be bottling a Pinot Noir shortly.
2012 Westcott Delphine Rosé – $18.00 – When I am describing the versatility of Rosé to people when it comes to food pairing I refer to it as a swiss army knife. This Rosé is very dry but filled with bright, vibrant fruit flavours… Raspberry, and Wild Strawberry with fantastic acidity that lends to it’s food friendliness.
2012 Westcott Lillias Unoaked Chardonnay – $20.00 – A great wine to enjoy during the summer. Pears and Peach on the nose. This is a very big unoaked Chardonnay with apple and peach flavours acidity almost sizzles on the palate as it rolls off the back if your tongue. A great patio sipper on a hot day or will stand up just fine if you’re serving chicken or pork from the oven or grill.
2012 Westcott Reserve Chardonnay – $29.00 – This wine is a steal at $29! Before getting into what to expect from the bottle it is very important you mind the serving temperature on this wine, make sure you don’t serve this too cold… before serving take this out of the fridge for 30-45 minutes to let it warm up, or make sure you don’t fill your guests glasses too full so the wine has a chance to warm up in the glass. Vanilla and Butterscotch are dominant on the nose with Woodsmoke and delicious toasted oak dominate the palate the finish is smooth and soft. Even though this is a very BIG chardonnay it is also quite elegant.
