Before getting to Father’s Day, I just want to remind everyone about the great event taking place in Liberty Village on Thursday, June 21 from 6-9 pm. The Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake will be in Toronto with 56 wines, there will be music and food. It’s a great way to celebrate the First Day of Summer. Tickets are available (if there are any left…) here tickets are only $49.
Today is Father’s Day. I have a couple of great wines for Dad whether he is the king of the grill or the master of the take out menu’s in the drawer in the kitchen.
Malivoire Guilty Men White – LCBO 192666 – $14.95 – What’s in a name? This wine has a fun name that would make a great gift for dad. Visiting Malivoire shortly after they first released the Guilty Men Red, they told me the story comes from the fact that the owner said they would never make a blended Red. They not only have blended red’s but also White’s. This is a dry white wine with flavours that lean towards more tropical fruits with flavours of Pineapple. This is a perfect patio sipper.
2009 Tawse Grower’s Blend Cabernet Franc – VINTAGES 284570 – $26.95 – Another great Cabernet Franc that is … different. Notes of spice are buried in the finish underneath wonderful ripe red fruit, flavours of raspberry, blueberry and currant. The nose is heavy almost like the smell of a forest after a rain fall. I realize this is a little bit pricy, but it is well worth it, and would make a fantastic gift for Dad.
