May 20 – 2014 Adamo The Stopper – 2012 Domaine Queylus Tradition Pinot Noir

2014 Adamo the Stopper – Vintages 452235 – $14.95 – **** – This is the first time in Vintages for new winery Adamo. Located near Orangeville they do have vines planted on their estate, but much of their fruit is also coming from fantastic growers in Niagara. This wine is blend of Riesling, Vidal and Gewürztraminer and brings a crowd pleasing wine to the shelves of vintages. The structure of this wine brings the best elements of its parts into the glass. The nose offers up mineral from the Riesling, floral from the Gew, and honey from the Vidal. The flavours are apples and peaches (riesling), slight rose petal (gewürztraminer), and bright citrus and acidity (vidal). Needless to say this wine will make a fantastic addition to your patio this summer. This will make a great match to grilled chicken, fish or just enjoy it on its own.

2012 Domaine Queylus Tradition Pinot Noir – Vintages 392738 – $29.95 – **** – I love it when Ontario pinot noir starts to offer up some floral aromas and flavours. Coming from the warm 2012 vintage this wine brings a little heavier and darker fruit with cherry, blackberry and a nice earthy flourish on the finish. There is a very nice mineral note that pokes through on the finish. In spite of the heavier fruit flavours the acidity balances everything perfectly and this wine is beautifully elegant.
