I realize we are getting into the end of summer … so I thought I would feature a couple to get us through some warm fall days.

2012 Reif “The Empress” Unoaked Chardonnay – LCBO 346791 – $12.95 – Rich and Crisp with loads of Golden Delicious and Macintosh apple flavours.  Very dry with bright acidity makes this very food friendly.  This will make a perfect match to chicken or turkey burgers.  I prefer to enjoy this right down to fridge temperature and letting the wine open up in my glass.

2013 Chateau des Charmes Vidal Icewine – LCBO 565861/Boutique Shop at Yonge and St Clair – $25.95 –  Summer is the perfect time of year to bust out the bottle of icewine you got for Christmas last year and you were saving for a special occasion.  Find that occasion during the few summer months we have you will not regret it.  My favorite thing is to pair Icewine with saltier dishes … any sort of charcuterie platter.  However, in the summer I love to serve my icewine with fried chicken, or ribs.  While there is sweetness in the barbeque sauce and my mantra with regards to icewine is never do sweet with sweet, you end up enough fat and salt from the ribs they work together.  This particular icewine is rich honey flavours with apricot, tangerine and floral aromas.  Nice acidity on the finish will help it cut through salts and fats when you serve this with your pork ribs.
