Wine Review March 15 – 2012 Coffin Ridge Into the Light White – 2011 Lailey Cabernet Sauvignon

2012 Coffin Ridge Into the Light White – Vintages 326744 – $20.00 – This is an interesting blend of Geisenheim, L’Acadie Blanc, Frontenac, Frontenac Gris, La Crescent, Prairie Star and Riesling.  If you’re not familiar with these particular grapes you’re not alone, they aren’t often found … period.  This is a a very interesting wine with flavours of Pink Grapefruit and Passion Fruit with just a kiss of sweetness on the finish.  This is a great wine to pair with some of those harder to match foods like Sushi, or Spicy Thai food.

2011 Lailey Cabernet Sauvignon – Vintages 591370 – $24.95 – This wine is simply fantastic.  There is a lot oging on with fantastic aromas brimming with juicy red fruit.  Flavours are very complex with Plum, Black Currant, Licorice, Dark Chocolate and just a hint of spice.  What makes this wine fantastic is that it is drinking great right now!  It will be better with some time in a decanter but will improve over the next five years on your wine rack.  I do not recommend pairing this wine with any food… because it is best enjoyed on its own!
