Riverview Cellars Sauvignon Blanc 2012 – VINTAGES 351494 – $16.95 – I spend early July ringing in Canada day in northern Manitoba fishing, so I have been drinking a lot of Sauvignon Blanc! Sauvignon Blanc just screams seafood to me when I’m drinking it, but it’s also a very easy wine to sit and drink on it’s own. This is another great Sauvignon Blanc loaded with herbaceous flavours reminiscent of great New Zealand Sauvignon blanc but at the same time with nice zesty acidity and subtle citrus flavours. This is a small producer that is making big wines. Pick up some trout or mussels and enjoy this wine!
Featherstone Cabernet Franc 2011 – VINTAGES 64618 – $16.95 – Everyone is looking forward to the 2012 vintages, especially since we’re still getting a steady stream of the 2010 wines … both considered to be some of the best vintages ever in Ontario. It turns out 2011 has also been giving us some very good wines. This is a wine very big ripe red fruit flavours, lots of raspberry with a jammy texture that fills your mouth right into your cheeks. While very much Cabernet Franc there isn’t too heavy making it your red wine patio sipper (maybe in the evening when the temperature drops).
