2011 Charles Baker Picone Riesling – Vintages 241182 – $35.20 – There aren’t many wines that head north of thirty dollars that I write about … but right from your first sniff of the wine in the glass you know you’ve got something special in front of you. Perfectly balanced, and even though there is 19.5 g/l of sugar in the bottle the laser beam focused acidity leaves the palate refreshed, clean and begging for the next sip. The nose is mineral with slight floral and citrus. This wine is loaded with Grapefruit, Lemon and a nice minerality. This will pair well with various pork dishes… but who are we kidding… this is one of those wines that you don’t pair with anyone and you don’t share with anyone (unless you really like them).
