2015 Strewn Terroir Pinot Blanc – Vintages 520205 – $18.95 – ***½+ – Well this is interesting, it’s not as if there is a ton of Pinot Blanc from Ontario that makes it to the shelf. Rarity aside this is an easy drinking bottle of wine that is meant to be paired with spicy cuisine of all kinds. The aromas of white flower are layered over orchard fruit with a nice mineral note that lingers slightly on the finish.
2015 Icellars Arinna – Vintages 524421 – $39.00 – ****½ – I am excited to find this bottle coming to the vintages shelves. My recent visit to this winery is documented here. That being said this winery enters the industry setting their bar very high and have succeeded in offering some outstanding wines made from an assemblage of Cabernet Sauvignon 54%, Merlot 28% and Cabernet Franc 18%. There is a nice smoky note and dark currant, plum and blackberry on the nose with flavours that match. The tannin on the finish is still quite firm and grippy so expect to toss this in a decanter for an hour of more before enjoying it… or set it aside for 3-5 years to enjoy young or watch it develop for 10-15 years.
