Wine Review - 2014 Culmina Hypothesis

2014 Culmina Hypothesis – $46.00 – ****+ – I’m not sure if this wine quite has the depth of some of the other solid Bordeaux style reds from the South Okanagan. But, that doesn’t mean this wine isn’t exciting – If you’re in Toronto, you will truly understand this wine – because this bottle is just like that feeling when you heard the Maple Leafs drafted Auston Matthews and that something electric, exciting, and damn good was about to happen to your team. This winery, and this wine is a top prospect, and you’re going to want to have this in your collection to see how the winery will evolve. If you plan on enjoying this in its youth I hope you have some patience. This wine is crafted for a few years in a cellar before it completely relaxes. Once it finally opens up you will find black currant, strawberry, and cherry. There is nice wood smoke and cocoa notes on the nose and on the finish. It’s clear that Don Triggs is looking straight to the old world, and this is going to be a worthy addition to a lineup of Bordeaux style wines coming out of the Okanagan.
