2012 Paradox Pinot Noir – Winery Only (Malivoire) – $40 – ****+ – This Pinot has a striking balance between intense concentrated flavours from the warm 2012 vintage and graceful elegance. Black Cherry, Plum and Spice on the nose. The flavours on this wine are super concentrated that they fill your entire mouth almost immediately after the wine hits your tongue. Black Cherry, Plum, Dark Chocolate and Spice linger just a bit after the finish. The finish is soft and elegant leaving your palate with just hints of the spice.
2013 Christine Chardonnay – Winery Only (Malivoire) – $35 – ****1/2 – This is for the Chardonnay lovers in the room. There is no subtlety to this wine and I like it that way! The nose is Pineapple, Orange and Vanilla. The flavours on this wine match the nose but you get a little more on the finish as the vanilla lingers for a long time on the finish and you get hints of baking spice poking through. This is one of those wines that in my world pairing with food would be borderline criminal. Enjoy this in a big glass after chilling in the fridge for 30-45 minutes before serving.
