As you know I get more excited about Nouveau than most. I get even more excited when it comes from Ontario. I was checking my social media and I noticed that there was one bottle of Nouveau that didn’t make it’s way to the LCBO from Ontario. Vineland estates (twitter: benchwineguy/ instagram: benchwineguy) produced a Gamay Nouveau that is basically a Rosé it was made available to wine club members only, and a very small quantity made it into their shop.
Vineland has a fantastic wine club that doesn’t only ship wines from Vineland but from other wineries in the area. You can join the club for $50.00 per month and they ship two bottles right to your door. Check out their website here: http://www.vineland.com
As far as the wine itself it’s a great welcome addition to the Nouveau from Reif and Chateau des Charmes. Lots of candied cherry and slight bubblegum on the finish. Everything about this wine feels a little lighter than the other Nouveau wines this year, even the colour which is clear and pink. It’s basically a deep rosé. I am already looking forward to next year.
