2010 Flat Rock Chardonnay – Vintages 681247 – $16.95 – I’m told by the LCBO that his wine is simply repackaged Good Kharma. No matter how you package it this wine still well overperforms the price and is worth picking up more than one bottle. A nice round creamy buttery mouth feel with a lot of Pear and Pineapple flavours. There is a long finish on a wine that overall is very subtle.
2011 Balance Pinot Noir – Vintages 367623 – $18.95 – I am very excited to see this wine on the shelf. This wine comes from the Niagara Teaching College. I’ve had a chance to try several of the wines labelled “Dean’s List” and they are always exceptional, but even I will admit that seeing Teaching College on a bottle makes me think of students who have not yet mastered their craft. I was very pleased to taste this wine without seeing where it had come from and it may be one of the best value Pinot Noirs to enter Vintages. Fantastic with lots of Cherry and Blackberry but a nice more subtle earthy finish. Another bottle worth stocking up on because it won’t last for long on the shelves.
