2018 Trail Estate Chardonnay Vintage Three Unfiltered – $40.00 – ****½ – This is what I look forward to every time I open a bottle of County Chardonnay. On the high tightrope this exciting wine is both thrilling and elegant – with nice spice and mineral notes dancing out of the glass and soaring over the restrained apple and citrus notes. On the palate this is crisp, but deceptively so – initially this hits hard with mineral and golden delicious apple. Flavours move quickly to spice with a whisper of vanilla and a finish that is crisp. If you decide to enjoy this young (2020-2021) it will be food friendly and easy to put on the table with virtually anything. I would expect to hold this for at least a few years to let this relax.
