2009 Malivoire Pinot Noir – $29.95 – VINTAGES 996777 – Leading into fall I have really been enjoying Pinot Noir. This is another really great vintages pick. I understand that this price moves it away from the “Friday Night” movie sipper, but even at this price it is still worth the price of admission to the bottom of this bottle. Flavours of Raspberry and Black Current with a nose to match. This Pinot has a nice pressence of earthiness on the finish that lingers. The thing I love about this Pinot Noir is even a glass or two into the bottle you aren’t left with that fuzzy feeling in your mouth. With the heavier earthiness this is begging to be paired with Roast Beef, or Lamb.
2010 Calamus Riesling – $16.95 – VINTAGES 158642 – Calamus continues to release exciting wines that stand out. This is a Riesling that I found interesting because of flavours of peach. There are the usual suspects of Grapefruit and Lime are present but it’s more balanced. Often with Riesling the Citrus flavours can be very intense, it is refreshing to taste something a little different. Nice acidity keeps this food friendly.
