Wine Review November 2, 2013 – 2012 Fielding Estate Riesling – 2011 Chateau des Charmes Gamay Noir

2012 Fielding Estate Riesling – $18.95 – Vintages 251439 – This is a very Niagara Riesling with aromas and flavours of apple and peach.  Typical citrus flavours are buried far underneath the orchard fruit in this bottle.  Acidity is nice but not overpowering leaving this wine with a longer pleasant after taste as there is a bit more sugar than most Rieslings.  Pairing is Chicken of any sort.

2011 Chateau des Charmes Gamay Noir – $12.95 – LCBO 57349 – I was really digging this wine at Thanksgiving with Turkey.  I continue to dig this wine because Gamay is so easy to pair with food.  In fact, I can’t think of much that wouldn’t at least be a passable pairing with Gamay.  Lots of plum and cherry in this bottle with great spice as the last drop rolls off the back of your tongue.  Nice acidity and light tannin leave a nice lip smacking finish where you are already ready for your next sip.
