Wine Review – 2016 Malivoire Gamay – 2016 Fielding Estate Bottled Riesling

2016 Fielding Estate Bottled Riesling – Vintages 251439 – $19.95 – ****+ – A beautiful off-dry and perfectly balanced bottle of Riesling. The aromas are lemon, lime and zest of both giving this some nice depth right off the nose. On the palate this opens up to an avalanche of fruit – the citrus makes way for orchard fruit with apple and peach. The slight sweetness keeps the fruit fresh and ripe but are met with beautiful acidity to keep this clean on the finish.

2016 Malivoire Gamay – Vintages 591313 – $17.95 – **** – I love this Gamay, especially in the middle of winter. It’s perfect because it’s so versatile with whatever you’re planning on cooking to get through the cold weather. Gamay is something that makes it’s way into Beef Bourguignon or Coq au Vin – but it also just does well on the side even with roasted poultry or beef if you’re not dumping a bottle in the pot. There is a nice pepper note layered over cherry and this wine stays light on the palate and is met with nice acidity.
