2010 Redstone Reserve Cabernet Franc – Vintages 381244 – $29.95 – It’s been awhile since I’ve reviewed something pressing close to the thirty dollar mark… but trust me this one is good. Great dark fruit with a bit of spice and cocoa on the finish. This is drinking great now but will age for at least another 5 years. Great to pair with grilled or roasted red meats or enjoy on it’s own.
2013 Gewurztraminer – Vintages 64592 (July 5) – $19.95 – The bad news about this Gewurz is that it will be the last vintage we see from Featherstone as they lost their Gewurz vineyard from the very cold winter this year. Rosewater and Lychee on the nose and palate with nice palate cleansing acidity on the finish. There is a fantastic finish on this wine leaving you with rose petal filling your mouth. I love sipping on Gewurz during the summer with no food pairing. I do enjoy serving the wine at almost fridge temperature and having it warm up in my glass on a patio. My preferred food pairings with this wine are Spicy Asian Cuisine or Perogies.
