2011 Featherstone Black Sheep Riesling – VINTAGES 080234 – $16.95 – This wine is fantastic, a great balance of a touch of sweetness and acidity makes this very easy to drink. Strong flavours of Peach and Lemon. Easy to pair with a variety of foods thanks to the acidity. Pick this one up while you can it won’t stay on the shelves long.
2010 Peninsula Ridge Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon – VINTAGES 609826 – $21.95 – Can something be soft and intense at the same time? The answer yes and it is this wine. Very juicy is the best way I can describe this wine. Flavours of ripe, dark red fruits that aren’t too heavy.
Coming up on March 1 (to 3) is the Cuvée event featuring the best in Ontario Wines. Should you have the means I highly recommend you head down to the Cuvée Grand Tasting Gala, tickets are available at www.cuvée.ca/tickets for $200. There are over 40 wineries participating where winemakers will be bringing their favorite wines paired along some great food prepared by some of the best chef’s in Niagara. The thing I love about this event is that it is not a competition. If you haven’t noticed by now I don’t give my wines a score or ranking, I prefer to leave it at that because a lot of tasting wine is subjective.
If you can’t make it down to the gala event you can buy a Cuvée En Route passport for $30.
