March 1st there are two Chardonnay’s getting a limited release through Vintages but these are wines that you want to have on your wine rack for special occasions or to open up for people that you REALLY like. The fact that these two great Chardonnay’s come from different vintages proves that we are making consistently great wine year after year. I usually prefer to keep my reviews below the thirty dollar mark these wines are well worth the price of admission.
2010 Bachelder Wismer Vineyard Chardonnay – Vintages 345819 – $44.95 – In 2013 the most expensive bottle of wine I bought was the 2011 Wismer Vineyard Chardonnay and it still remains one of my favorite wines. Perfectly balanced with flavours ranging from pineapple to slight citrus moving to nice toasty oak and baked apple on a finish that lasts for ages.
2011 Southbrook Poetica Chardonnay – Vintages 366500 – $50.00 – Perfectly balanced from the cooler 2011 vintage flavours of Pineapple, Lemon, Vanilla and great Oak flavours on the finish. There is a certain subtlety to this wine that screams Ontario. The finish is long and fantastic because frankly when drinking this wine you want this flavour to sit in there forever.
