2009 Casa Dea Cabernet Franc – VINTAGES 241612 – $18.95 -This is another wine that I had a chance to try this summer during my visit to Prince Edward County. I am really enjoying the 2008 and 2009 Cabernet Franc on the shelves. This has a very pleasant earthiness and finish of black pepper. This is filled with flavours of plum and almost chocolate. The weather is getting colder so pair this Stew or Beef Bourguinon.
2009 Konzelmann Vidal Icewine – VINTAGES 167866 – $24.95 – It has been quite some time since I have had a chance to talk about Icewine. This one jumped out at me because of the price. This is perfect if you’re looking to entertain and want to pick up something special for after your meal. This Icewine is very soft on the finish with strong flavours of peach and honey. This year wait until after you’ve finished dessert to bring out the icewine… especially if you’ve got people at your table who say icewine is too sweet! Pairing Icewine with a dessert can be risky because of all the sugar you will be putting on the table at the same time. No reason this can’t wait until after the meal.
