2011 Le Clos Jordanne Village Reserve Pinot Noir – Vintages 33894 – $30.00 – Would you call me crazy for calling this a value wine? Even at thirty dollars this is well worth the price of admission for a wine that is a perfect balance of fruit and earth with nice soft acidity on the finish. The aroma is Cherry and slight Vanilla. Flavours on this wine are Cherry and Raspberry. Then it moves to subtle vanilla and nutmeg moving to slight earthiness that is the signature of Niagara Pinot. This is definitely a wine that you would want to enjoy on it’s own.
2010 (Henry of Pelham) Family Tree White – Vintages 251116 – $17.95 – This wine is everything that is great about Gewurztraminer but a less intense. This is a blend of Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Viognier and Musqué … basically it’s the kitchen sink of highly aromatic white grapes. Subtler than Gewurztraminer or Musqué this will pair with just about anything if it’s chicken, pork or seafood. I will be buying a bottle to set aside for my turkey days in the fall.
