Wine Review - 2016 Wildass Riesling -

2016 Wildass Riesling – Vintages 129700 – $17.95 – **** – We all should drink more Riesling from Ontario. It’s a great way to start building a collection and you don’t need to spend more than twenty bucks to get something top shelf. This bottle from Stratus offers apple, pear, lime, and a nice mineral note that goes from nose to finish. This is slightly off-dry but is still nicely balanced. So, if you wanted to stow a few bottles away for a few years it should evolve nicely, or you can open it without guilt and enjoy it on a patio as summer approaches.

2016 Coyote’s Run Pinot Noir – Vintages 52090 – $19.95 – **** – Coyote’s Run has defined themselves with outstanding Pinot at a great price. This offering offers a nice earthy note well integrated under cherry, strawberry and cranberry with nice ripeness and concentration. The tannin is still a little grippy, but no match to the juicy fruit flavours. As far as value Pinot from Ontario is concerned this continues to be at the top of its class.
