2016 Organized Crime Sauvignon Blanc – Vintages 396275 – $18.95 – ****½ – The intensity of tropical aromas in this wine feel like vinous pyrotechnics. Passion fruit, guava, and pink grapefruit announce their presence without apology. The flavours match the aromas, and open up with nice weight and texture. The wine finishes in stark contrast with how it starts – there is a nice straw and mineral note that usher out all the tropical goodness, and crisp acidity that keeps the finish on this wine clean. This is an essential for your next fish fry or shellfish feast.
2014 Flat Rock Gravity – Vintages 1560 – $34.95 – ****+ – The facelift of this label is striking. It’s sleek, elegant, and it matches the wine in the bottle. The aromas are ripe red cherry, cranberry, and damp forest floor. On the palate there is a subtle earthy note that caresses very ripe red cherry and raspberry. The tannin is silky smooth and nice acidity makes this extremely easy to drink right now. I would love to see how this will evolve in a cellar over the next 5-7 years, but I don’t know if I will have the patience.
