Wine Review - 2015 Vineland Estates Boteek Clone 327 Cabernet Franc - 2016 Bachelder Niagara Chardonnay

2016 Bachelder Niagara Chardonnay – Vintages 302083 – $24.95 – **** – I would put this bottle on the table for anyone who complains that Ontario wines are too expensive. Coming in just shy of twenty five dollars this offers fantastic value from any category at the LCBO. Coming from the stellar hot 2016 summer it feels like some of those warmer months have been captured in this glass with aromas of oranges and pineapple – the warm fruit flavours are caressed by nice vanilla and subtle spice.

2015 Vineland Estates Boteek Clone 327 Cabernet Franc – Vintages 621342 – $35.00 – ****+ – There is no doubt that Cabernet Franc is one of the grapes that really shines in Niagara every vintage. Owner/Winemaker Brian Schmidt from Vineland is unapologetic of his love of Franc – the Vineland Cabernet Franc that can be found in the general list of the LCBO is always great value for money. This tiny batch is made from vines planted in 1996 and is without a doubt one of the best bottles of Franc available in Ontario right now.
