2015 Rosewood Süssreserve Riesling – Vintages 258806 – $14.95 – ****+ – Easy drinking and loaded with fresh apple flavours. This Riesling is made by adding some unfermented juice back to the finished wine. The idea is you’re going to add a little more fresh flavours to the finished product. The süssreserve from Rosewood is always something to look forward to, but this year is truly outstanding. Perfectly balanced acidity with a nice touch of sweetness on the finish. Even with the lingering sweetness the tart finish to this wine leaves your mouth anxious for the next sip.
2012 Tawse Sketches of Niagara Cabernet/Merlot – Vintages 130252 – $20.95 – **** – The nose is impressive on this wine. Blackberry, Black Currant, Plum, Stawberry, Dark Cherry, and Wood Smoke all make their way out of the glass. We really aren’t going to see too many more wines from the stellar 2012 vintage hitting the market and it was a terrific year for full bodied red wines. The flavours on this wine match the nose with soft tannin on the finish.
