While I’ve been focusing on more long form content on this site. I had to get the word out about this stunning bottle of Chardonnay from Henry of Pelham.
2018 Henry of Pelham Speck Family Reserve Chardonnay – Vintages 616466 – $29.95 – ****+ – The thing about Henry of Pelham’s style of Chardonnay, is that I often find that it hits the market too soon. These wines are definitely made with a bit more oak influence front and centre vs. most of the wineries of Ontario. So they take a bit of time to settle down before being ready to be consumed. That is not the case with the 2018 Speck Family Reserve Chardonnay. This is already very well integrated and something to enjoy now. There is vanilla and spice on the nose – and the spice note sings loudly from start to finish on this wine. There are nice apple, peach, and pineapple notes mated with fantastic acidity. Buy some for now, and hold onto a bottle or two for the next 5-7 years.
