2012 Mer Soleil Reserve Chardonnay – Vintages 958975 – $34.95 (currently the 2011 is available) – What would happen if hot buttered popcorn had a love child with a sweet christmas orange? There’s a good chance you would end up with the Mer Soleil Reserve Chardonnay. Very rich and complex flavours are layers of Orange, Tangerine with Vanilla and toasted Oak on the finish. Some wines are not meant to be paired with anything… but if you must… Rich Creamy Pastas or Roasted Poultry and Gravy. Even at $34.95 this wine is fantastic value especially compared to other Californian Chardonnay at this price.
2012 Mer Soleil Unoaked Chardonnay – Vintages 220343 – $29.95 – This wine defies the very definition of Unoaked Chardonnay. I have heard many people say Unoaked Chardonnay is boring. Right from the ceramic bottle to the core of this wine it is anything but boring. This is pure sunshine in a glass with very concentrated citrus flavours including tangerine, navel orange, and lemon. This wine finishes strong with a nice lingering finish that would have you think there is oak somewhere in the glass. This would be your wine to pair with Roast or Fried Chicken or as with the reserve enjoy on its own.
