2011 Coffin Ridge Back from the Dead Red – Vintages 260463 – $17.00 – Halloween is coming… and for those of you sick of pumpkin flavoured beer, pie and lattes this wine is for you. Perfectly unpretentious and approachable. There is a bit of funkiness in this wine as you can truly tell that it’s Marechal Foch. Lots of cranberry, blackberry and raspberry with a slight herbaciousness and earthiness on the finish. This will pair perfectly with stews, hearty soups or chili.
2012 Henry of Pelham Reserve Baco Noir – Vintages 461699 – $24.95 – It’s definitely hybrid week with the release of the 2012 reserve Baco Noir. I was not expecting the strong pressence of vanilla in the finish of this wine. It made a nice addition to a palate that did contain ripe, heavy black fruit with a nice finish of subtle earth and vanilla. The texture of this wine is juicy. This will pair with roast beef or lamb dishes and will make a great addition to sauces. I picture this working it’s way into Coq au Vin over the winter in my home.
2012 Nk’Mip Qwmt Chardonnay – Vintages 391813 – $22.95 – Around the twenty dollar mark really seems to be a really great sweet spot for Canadian Chardonnay. This is a BC chardonnay is loaded with Pineapple and Apple intertwined with Vanilla and nice woodsmoke. The finish on this wine will make you wish your mouth tasted like this all the time. A perfect match to roast or barbequed chicken.
