2012 Tenuta Frescobaldi Di Castiglioni – Vintages 145920 – $21.95 – **** – Mainly Cab Sauv, with Merlot, Cab Franc and Sangiovese to round out the package this is a very nice full bodied, easy drinking wine. The nose and flavours are licorice and black currant. Flavours are very fruit driven with nice flavours of currant, blackberry, black plum and hints of vanilla, smoke and cocoa on the finish. The tannin is nice and round in the mouth right after opening. This is a wine that is drinking great right now, but should be good for the next 3-6 years. I enjoyed this wine on its own, but it will make a great pair to steak, lamb or pizza.
