2014 Mission Hill Reserve Pinot Gris – Vintages 537076 – $24.95 – ***½ – This is truly summer captured in a glass. The fruit is pear and peach on the nose and on the palate. There is a delightful mineral note that forms the backbone to this wine and makes this very food friendly for lighter fare from the grill. This is a great wine for a fish fry at the cottage or paired with pork or chicken. The texture is light and the acidity is crisp and palate cleansing.
2015 Rockway Vineyards Red – Vintages 498667 – $14.95 – **** – A blend of 71% Baco and 29% Cabernet Franc this is a perfect wine to match up with red meat off the grill whether your preference is burgers or steaks. The fruit in this bottle is juicy plum and raspberry with a rich vanilla note. The Cabernet Franc just takes the edge off the Baco… I just picture somewhere in the making of this bottle a bunch of grapes did a high five when they teamed up. This isn’t a wine that belongs in a cellar – so buy it, enjoy it and serve it with food and good company.
