2014 Inniskillin Vidal Sparkling Icewine – Vintages 560367 – $79.95 – ****1/2 – This wine is for those of you who are full on sick of Icewine. There are bubbles in the glass when you pour this wine and they are amazing. The flavours are everything you would expect from very good vidal icewine. The nose has honey, peach and citrus and the flavours match. The best part about this wine is having the bubbles in your glass helps cut through some of the sweetness of this wine. Depending on how elegant you want to be I would love to pair this with Bacon, Charcuterie, Paté and Blue Cheese.
2013 Coyote’s Run Rare Vintage Chardonnay – Vintages 426437 – $24.95 – ****1/2 – The nose on this wine is soft, so is the acidity on the finish of this wine. It’s almost as if this wine belongs in an impressionist museum because when you take a moment with the wine in your mouth after the first sip everything just opens right up. The nose is pear and peach with just a slight citrus note poking through but everything about this wine just screams subtlety. When you take your first sip you will find the pear and peach on the nose and you will also get vanilla and baking spice as well. To best enjoy this wine put it in the fridge for 30-45 minutes before serving to take it down a few degrees and make sure you don’t overchill it. Pair nothing with this wine it will be best enjoyed on its own.
