2013 Organized Crime Cabernet Franc – Vintages 472530 – $18.95 – **** – There is something interesting about this Franc. The fruit is concentrated and very ripe bordering on jammy with flavours of strawberry, cherry, blackberry and currant. But even with all the very ripe fruit dominating the nose and the palate there is still room for some bell pepper aromas that linger on the finish. This is a wine meant to pair with roast lamb or beef as we get into February.
2013 Reif Pinot Noir – Vintages 282889 – $16.95 – ****+ – This is outstanding value for Pinot Noir from Niagara. The aromas are heavy and perfumed with rose and violet sitting front and center but nice dark cherry tossed in there too. The floral aromas work their way onto the palate and taking over your entire mouth. Once you have a chance to work your way past the perfumed qualities of this wine you will find raspberry and dark cherry. The way this wine finishes is with a nice earthiness and great acidity.
