2012 Vieni Gamay Noir – Winery Only – $17.95 – ****+ – This was the gold medal winner at the Ontario Wine Awards. Coming from the hot 2012 vintage this wine still keeps all the signature qualities of great Gamay. The flavours are nice concentrated Cherry with hints of pepper on the finish. There is fantastic balance with acidity on the finish. This Gamay that reminds me of very good Beaujolais Villages, with nice complexity and incredible food friendliness. This is something I will pair with anything I can toss on the grill whether red meat, poultry or fish. This is drinking great right now, but should age for 3-6 years.
