Pierre Sparr Bubbles

Pierre Sparr Brut Reserve Cremant D’Alsace – LCBO 388603 – $18.95 – **** – A traditional method sparkling wine made from Pinot Blanc. This is bright, crisp and clean on the nose with the aroma of freshly baked bread with white flower mixed in. This wine finishes dry with nice, bright, crisp acidity that leaves the palate refreshed. The palate has nice fruit layered over a mineral note. There are notes of peach, green apple, and pear. This is one of those wines that I love having around and opening just because. This is a bottle that will be perfect for special occasions if you don’t feel like spending Champagne money.

Pierre Sparr Brut Rosé Cremant D’Alsace – Vintages 39016 – $18.95 – **** – Traditional method with 12 months on lees. This is made with pure Pinot Noir. I don’t often fixate on the colour of a wine but this is just a pretty pink hue in the glass. The red berry flavours are rich and concentrated on the nose and on the palate. Strawberry, Cherry, Cranberry are beautifully layered over a nice mineral note and a crisp citrus acidity that brings up the finish. There is a bit of sweetness noticeable on the finish of this wine but it is perfectly balanced with great acidity.
