2014 Fielding Unoaked Chardonnay – Vintages 164491 – $14.95 – **** – The moment I am writing this review we are getting a taste of Winter. I think it’s appropriate to pour this wine as a taste of Summer. Aromas and flavours of Apple, Peach and Melon. This is straightforward and uncomplicated with nice acidity. Bright crisp acidity on the finish makes this a great match to Roast Chicken or Seafood.
2012 Rockway Vineyards Small Lot Block 11-140 Cabernet Franc – Vintages 346239 – $24.95 – ****+ – This is very tasty Franc from the warm 2012 Summer. The nose is Raspberry with Blackberry and hints of smoke. The flavours match the nose while adding a bit more depth of fruit with blueberry and strawberry making their way in. The finish has nice spice notes and cocoa with a hint of a signature franc savory edge on the finish. The tannin is still quite firm in this wine so I would recommend letting it breathe for 30 minutes before serving.
