2011 Hidden Bench Brut Natur – $45.00 – ****½ – Chances are at the moment you are reading this the Brut Natur from HIdden Bench has long been sold out. But do not despair, there will be another disgorgement in June 2017. This is something worth marking the calendar for. The nose is bright and crisp with apple and citrus aromas layered over toasted white bread. The concentration of the flavours in this wine is intense and delicious. The flavours match the nose with apple and citrus and just a whisper of vanilla on the mid palate. There is a nice mineral note that goes through from start to finish. While this price puts it at the upper end of the scale for sparkling wine in Ontario it has it’s sight set on France and this would be a worthy bottle to put on the table next to many bottles even double the price.
How long this wine stayed on the lies before being disgorged? Hidden Bench is definitely a leader in quality wine production in Beamsville, I have high expectation for their sparkling.
