2012 Small Talk Vineyards Recap Syrah – Vintages 415612 – $24.95 – ***1/2 – Obviously the first thing you will notice about this wine is the label. Small Talk has done a great job making sure their bottles stand out on the shelf… but how does the wine stack up? You have a Syrah that is very smooth on the finish with nice acidity on the finish. You will find flavours of blueberry and plum with a nice smokiness to round out the wine. This will make a great match to pizza or pasta dishes.
2014 Flat Rock Riesling – Vintages 43281 – $16.95 – **** – This wine drinks very easily. It’s off-dry with bright crisp acidity on the finish and a strong mineral note that lingers. Lemon and Grapefruit on the nose with flavours to match. This wine will make you yearn for summer hopefully with some warmer weather to enjoy this on a patio on it’s own. Alcohol is 9.5% making this wine even easier to enjoy because frankly you can enjoy a little more of it. Food pairings would be pasta with cream sauce or chicken souvlaki off the grill.
