2012 Calamus Riesling – Vintages 158642 – $16.95 – The acidity sizzles the moment it touches your tongue. As the wine unravels on the palate you end up with Peach, Apple and Citrus flavours balanced with nice mineral on the finish. This is a great slightly off-dry riesling to enjoy on the patio for the summer.
2011 Fontana Dolce – Vintages 365825 – $14.95 – When I saw this last summer at Riverview I was intrigued by the bottle with the vintage looking movie poster for a label. There are a few wineries that have started making off-dry red wine. I’ll be honest that this isn’t something I would normally buy, but it would make a great addition to a picnic or family barbeque. Very fruity and served slightly warmer than fridge temperature would be a good addition to your patio.
