Wine Review June 8, 2013 – 2012 Kacaba Unoaked Chardonnay – 2012 Palatine Hills Merlot Cabernet

Kacaba Unoaked Chardonnay 2012 – LCBO 326975 – $13.95 – Light, Crisp, Easy Drinking and Dry.  This wine is a lot of fun to drink as the aromas and flavours are like a tribute to Ontario Orchards with flavours of Apple, Pear and Slight Peach.  While this wine would have versitility with lighter foods like seafood or lightly seasoned chicken this wine belongs on a patio with good company and warm weather.

Palatine Hills Estate Merlot Cabernet 2012 – LCBO 260448 – $13.20 – Cabernet Merlot is typically one of your heavier Red Wines with fantastic barrel flavours and heavy tannins that grip at your tongue and palette while you’re drinking it.  The Palatine Hills is very fruity with lots of Cherry, Raspberry and Black Currant flavours.  Be warned that this wine does come off as a bit sweet.  While being easy drinking, this may not appeal to your more “serious” red wine dinker.  That being said, I have been asked several times about how to get into Red Wine if you’re not a Red Wine drinker, I usually reply by saying “Gamay” but this wine fits that bill quite nicely.
