Wine Review January 6, 2013 – 2011 Trius Pinot Grigio – 2009 Tawse Laundry Vineyard Cabernet Franc

So Christmas and New Years have passed… Company has all gone home… You’ve maybe started thinking about taking down the tree… maybe…

I don’t know about you, but I really like to spoil myself a bit come January.  There are some wines that I say are so good you don’t want to share them with company (unless you REALLY like them).  The wines this week fall into that category.

2011 Trius Pinot Grigio – VINTAGES 0316414 – $15.95 – Pinot Grigio is one of my favorite summer grapes but this is a wine that will definitely not be on the shelves by the time the snow melts.  Bright Citrus aromas with lots of flavours of Apple and Peach with a slight sweetness and nice acidity.  This is a wine that would pair well with Roast Chicken or perfect on it’s own.

2009 Tawse Laundry Vineyard Cabernet Franc – VINTAGES 0130997 – $31.95 – I realize my prices have been creeping up… but this one is worth it I promise.  I have been drinking a lot of Cabernet Franc, but I’ve also been buying a lot and putting it on the rack for a special occasion because the Cabernet Franc from 2008 and 2009 has been really good.  This wine has strong flavours of Raspberry that is very, very smooth on the finish with a richness that lingers on the Palette.  Even at this price I plan on picking up two bottles, one for now and one for a special occasion.
