Wine Review BONUS - 2016 Cave Spring Indian Summer Riesling - 2017 Inniskillin Riesling Icewine

2016 Cave Spring Indian Summer Riesling – vintages 415901 – $24.95 – **** – This is one of my go-to wines when I have a hankering for Icewine but I don’t have the budget to get the real deal. Cave Spring always over delivers with this nice balanced (for a late harvest) – this still delivers a punch of apricot, peach, and honey flavours. The finish does linger but is met with nice acidity.

2017 Inniskillin Riesling Icewine – LCBO 558288 – $79.95 – ****+ – Icewine is often overlooked as a choice for a dinner party – but the mistake most people make is matching this with desert. Enjoy this with fried chicken, cheddar or blue cheese, charcuterie platter. When you get some salt to match up with the sweet wine it brings out the best of both worlds. Flavours of apricot, caramel, peach, and honey are met with fantastic acidity that take a bit of the edge off the sweetness to this wine.
