Wine Review - 2017 Drea’s Sauvignon Blanc

2017 Drea’s Sauvignon Blanc – (Available at Reif) – $26.70 – **** – It’s great when a wine can tell a great story. This bottle is made in memory of Karl Kaiser by his daughter Andrea. She tells the story on the bottle of her father making this wine in his personal cellar every year to her and her mother’s liking. I don’t want to steal any of Andrea’s thunder because she tells much more of the story on the website for this wine (https://www.dreawine.com/wines). The aromas and flavours of this wine are delivering Sauvignon Blanc in a style that is the best of what Niagara can bring to this varietal. It’s hard not to immediately go to gooseberry on the nose as it’s what adorns the label – but there are nice citrus notes, and a hint of hay bale. The texture of this wine is light and crisp – but the flavours open on the palate with nice intensity. This is great wine – and a wonderful tribute.
