2016 Southbrook Laundry Vineyard Pinot Noir – $34.80 – ****+ – The lineup at Southbrook has been very interesting over the past few vintages with the addition of Riesling and Gamay – so this Pinot was something I was very looking forward to opening. I was not disappointed – the aromas are rich cherry with a touch of spice and vanilla. The texture of this wine is plush and juicy with the cherry flavours that pop on the tongue as it’s met with a subtle earthiness and slight vanilla note. The finish is long and satisfying, but this wine is still mated with perfectly balanced acidity. This is a bottle that you’re not likely to find in my house next to food as I believe the perfect pairing is simply a second glass.
