Wine Review - 2015 Nk’Mip Qwam Qwmt Syrah - 2015 Charles Baker Picone Vineyard Riesling

2015 Charles Baker Picone Vineyard Riesling – Vintages 241182 – $37.20 – ****½ – The depth and complexity to this wine is just … satisfying. The aroma is deep and complex offering citrus, peach, and hints of petrol. The balance is incredible – there is just enough sweetness left in the bottle that the fruit comes to life and pops on the palate – lime, peach, and pear. There is nice texture to this wine as it opens up on the palate. Then the solid mineral backbone starts to guide the way. If you’re familiar with the Charles Baker label I know you’re already sold – if you’re new to it this is the moment to check it out.

2015 Nk’Mip Qwam Qwmt Syrah – Vintages 230094 – $34.95 – **** – Syrah from the Okanagan is something special – every time I’ve come across a bottle of this magic juice I have had to resist the urge to just guzzle the bottle. This bottle from Nk’Mip is no exception. Expect aromas of campfire and black licorice. On the palate expect juicy cassis, blackberry, plum, licorice, and spice. The tannin is soft and this wine is very easy drinking – don’t expect me to pair this with food – find this on my home on a pedestal being worshipped until the bottle is empty.
