Wine Review - 2015 Chateau des Charmes Old Vines Riesling - 2016 Huff Estates South Bay Vineyards Cabernet Franc

2015 Chateau des Charmes Old Vines Riesling – Vintages 277228 – $18.95 – **** – Great intense aromas of apricot, peach, lime, are caressed by mineral. This bottle is perfectly balanced and brings a symphony of flavour to your glass – orchard fruit is met seamlessly with citrus – a honeyed note convinces you this wine is going to finish sweet, but the finish comes up with crisp acidity, and a refreshing mineral note. Perfect to drink now, or to see how it will evolve in your cellar for the next 5-7 years.

2016 Huff Estates South Bay Vineyards Cabernet Franc – Vintages 578849 – $29.95 – ****+ – Another exhibit in the case for Cabernet Franc being Ontario’s defining varietal. Granted 2016 was a very hot summer province wide – but this grape can handle the cooler climate in the County. The aromas offer blackberry, and blueberry. The texture of this wine is lush and juicy adding mocha and spice to the berry fruit from the nose. A perfect wine to match with your steak or lamb off the bbq.
