Trius Brut Rosé – Vintages 184309 – $29.95 – **** – There’s a nice balance between citrus and red fruit on the nose. Nice depth on the palate that really opens up when if you let it sit on your tongue. Food pairings are endless for this wine as it finishes nice and clean. The short story about this rosé is that it’s a great bottle of pink bubbly.
2010 Viewpointe Cabernet Franc – Vintages 359299 – $17.10 – **** – We don’t see enough wine from the Lake Erie North Shore on the shelves. Most of the vineyards of LENS were hit hard by the cold winters that affected the wineries of Niagara. What you can expect from this bottle is a little more heat on the fruit and a little riper red fruit than what you might expect from Niagara. The nose is rich with raspberry and cocoa. The palate opens up to blackberry, black currant, cocoa and there’s a nice note of smoke. I’m not sure if this is something you will want to age as it’s already seven years old. There’s nothing wrong with that as this bottle is priced to be enjoyed immediately.
