2013 Cave Spring Indian Summer Select Late Harvest Riesling – Vintages 415901 – $24.95 – ****+ – This is a great wine for those of you who say that Icewine is too sweet. First off being a late harvest there is less sugar than in your regular Icewine. Secondly, this wine is made with Riesling which gives it a nice acidity on the finish. You have flavours of lemon and tangerine with nice honey notes. Don’t save this one for the holidays enjoy it now with smoked meats or charcuterie.
2013 Coffin Ridge Back from the Dead Red – Vintages 260463 – $19.00 – **** – This is for the Baco lovers out there. This is made with Marechal Foch, Baco Noir, Cabernet, Merlot and Gamay. It has the heavy red fruit flavours you would expect from Baco or Foch but the Cabernet, Merlot and Gamay help cut through some of the finish you get from the hybrid grapes. For all intents and purposes this is a very good Baco-like wine with a very smooth finish. This will make a great match for barbeque of any kind.
