2013 Lailey Unoaked Chardonnay – Vintages 299776 – $14.95 – ****+ – Who said unoaked Chardonnay is boring? This offering from Lailey is excellent with a nice creamy texture on the palate. There are flavours of apple, peach, and melon with beautiful acidity on the finish. Nice light and crisp! This will make a match to chicken burgers, light pasta dishes, and seafood. Lailey is one of my favorite wineries from Niagara and this wine at fourteen dollars is a steal and won’t last on the shelves for very long.
2013 Raven’s Roost Pinot Noir – Vintages 415828 – $22.95 – **** – Cherry, Raspberry, and Cranberry on the nose and on the palate. There is a nice balance between acidity and a nice earthiness on the finish. There is a continuing trend of very affordable high quality Pinot Noir from Ontario making its way to the LCBO shelves. This will be great to enjoy on its own or pair it with Lamb, Burgers, or Pizza.
